Markets
The Markets screen: major indices, cap-weighted sector moves, breadth, and the day's largest gainers and decliners, all on delayed data.
Markets is a one-screen view of the broad US market: where the indices are, which sectors are moving, how many stocks are up versus down, and the biggest movers among large companies. All data comes from Nasdaq's public endpoints and is delayed about 15 minutes.
Open it from the nav (under "More" on narrower laptop screens), click the index strip on Home, or press g then m.
Header#
The header line is short, for example "Closed · delayed · 3m ago": the market status from Nasdaq (with a countdown to the next open or close when the feed provides a sensible one), that quotes are delayed, and how long ago the index data was fetched. If the session cannot be read it says "Session unknown". The Market data sources drawer says where each figure comes from. Before the day's changes are fetched, panels read "Not fetched yet"; the (i) says they refresh every minute while the market is open.
Below that, each index appears with its last value and day change: S&P 500, Nasdaq Composite, Dow Jones, Russell 2000 and Nasdaq-100, as the feed returns them. If the index feed fails you see "Index quotes unavailable right now".
Sectors#
A grid of tiles, one per sector, sorted from best to worst. Each tile shows:
- The sector name.
- The cap-weighted 1D change: each company's day change weighted by its market cap, across US stocks with a market cap of $500M or more, with no upper limit.
- The number of companies in that sector.
Tile color is green for gains and red for losses, and gets stronger as the move approaches 3% in either direction.
Breadth#
- Advancing and declining counts among US stocks of $500M or more, with a bar showing the split. Unchanged stocks are not counted on either side.
- Within 3% of 52W low (scanned): how many names in the last Discover scan sit within 3% of their 52-week low, out of all scanned names. This count reflects the most recent scan, not a live market-wide figure. Run or rescan the screen to refresh it.
- Universe: the number of stocks used for the sector and breadth figures.
Three tags state what is deliberately missing:
| Tag | Why |
|---|---|
| VIX: not licensed | Requires a licensed index feed. |
| Treasury yields: not connected | Requires a rates data feed. |
| Level II: not licensed | Requires exchange Level II entitlements. |
Investi marks these as unavailable rather than approximating them.
Top gainers and top decliners#
Two tables, Top gainers and Top decliners (market cap $500M or more, no upper limit), each with the eight US stocks that moved most today: Symbol, Name, Last and 1D (an arrow and the size of the move). Sort and filter by any column. Hover a ticker for its hover card or click it to open Research.
What this screen does not do#
- It does not stream updates. Reload the page to fetch newer delayed data.
- It does not show global sessions, futures, rates or volatility indices.
- It is not personalized. For your own positions, see Portfolio.
Note: Market session status also appears in the top bar on wide screens, in the footer on desktop, and in the mobile "More" menu. All of them read from the same Nasdaq status feed.
