Notebook
The Notebook screen: your notes tied to the verdict at the time, price and 52-week-low alerts, and your watchlist.
On this page
Notebook collects the things you write and the things you asked Investi to watch: decisions, theses and notes, each tied to the verdict you saw when you wrote it, plus your alerts and watchlist. It is the record that lets you look back later and see what you knew at the time.
Open it from the nav (under "More" on narrower laptop screens) or press g then n. The bell icon in the top bar links straight to the alerts panel at /notebook#alerts.
Notes#
The Notes panel (with a count beside the title) is a table of your 200 most recent notes across all companies, newest first. Sort and filter by any column; the view is kept in the URL.
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Symbol | The ticker (hover for its hover card, click to open research), or "General". |
| Kind | Decision, thesis or note. |
| Verdict then | The computed verdict stored with the evaluation the note was linked to, as a color chip ("Not analyzed" when none was linked). |
| Note | The first line. Open the row for the full text. |
| Date | When it was written; hover for the exact time. |
Writing a note#
You write notes from a company's research page, not from Notebook. Open any research page, choose the Notes tab in the records panel, pick decision, thesis or note, type, and press Save decision, Save thesis or Save note (POST /api/v1/notes). The note is linked to the evaluation currently on screen. You can delete a note from that same tab.
With no notes yet, the panel reads "No notes yet" and offers an Open Research button.
Alerts#
The panel title reads Alerts, or Alerts · N new when some have fired that you have not read.
Alert types#
You create alerts from a research page with Set alert. Three kinds exist:
| Kind | Fires when | Shown as |
|---|---|---|
| Price falls to | The last delayed price is at or below your price. | ≤ $42.00 |
| Price rises to | The last delayed price is at or above your price. | ≥ $55.00 |
| Within % of 52W low | The last price is within your percentage of the 52-week low. | within 3.0% of 52W low |
Active alerts are a table: Symbol, Rule, Level, Last hit and Status, sortable and filterable. The Status cell has a Remove button (DELETE /api/v1/alerts/{id}). Alerts notify only.
When alerts are checked#
Alerts compare the latest delayed quote with your threshold. An alert fires whenever a check finds the price on the far side of it, at most once per alert per trading day (New York date). Because the check looks at the current level, the order of events does not matter: an alert you create after the price has already crossed fires at once, and an alert that exists before the cross fires at the first check after it.
Checks run:
- When you create an alert, from a research page, the REST API or Claude. The response says whether it triggered immediately.
- When any signed-in screen loads, so the bell count is current wherever you are. This runs at most once a minute and never holds the page for more than a moment.
- When the Alerts panel loads (
GET /api/v1/alerts?evaluate=1). - Every 10 minutes during US market hours, on a schedule, even when Investi is closed (deployments that set
CRON_SECRETon Vercel).
Note: Quotes are delayed about 15 minutes, and a check sees the price at that moment. A price that crosses your level and comes back between two checks is not recorded.
Triggered alerts#
Fired alerts appear above the list in their own table (Message, Date, Status New or Read), newest first (up to 10), for example "XYZ is within 3.0% of its 52-week low ($41.20)." Mark read (PATCH /api/v1/alerts), shown only while some are unread, marks all of them read and clears the bell count.
Fired alerts from the last three days also appear in the Briefing on Home.
With no alerts the panel reads "No alerts set": choose Set alert on any research page.
Watchlist#
The Watchlist panel is a table of every name you have added (Symbol, Added), most recent first; a name on two watchlists shows once. Add or remove names with the Watch button on a research page (POST /api/v1/watchlists).
Watchlist names also feed the earnings list on Calendar. With an empty list you see "Watchlist is empty" and a prompt to choose Watch on any research page.
Using notes well#
The research page's Research history tab records every verdict revision, and Notebook records your reasoning next to it. A short decision note when you buy, hold through earnings or sell makes the history readable months later. Notes and alerts are also available to Claude through the MCP connector; see /docs/integrations/mcp.
